The SE Interceptor was a multi-phase project to upgrade Bend’s sewer collection system, designed to relieve capacity constraints and support continued growth. TNW was awarded four segments of the project and installed more than 26,000 feet of 24- to 30-inch gravity sewer at depths exceeding 30 feet. Work was performed in the middle of active city streets, requiring comprehensive traffic control and continuous access to surrounding businesses. TNW managed roadway excavation, utility coordination, and stakeholder communication throughout the corridor. The team successfully navigated complex conditions, including unmarked utilities, work around operational facilities, sewer bypass pumping, and deep excavation in solid rock. Additional challenges included crossings beneath railroad tracks, canals, and existing utility infrastructure.
